The following financial assistance is available:
For parents and guardians:
-
Carers Allowance: For people who care for a child with a disability at home.

Disability Support Pension: (age 16+) For people who are unable to work for 2
years due to illness, injury or disability.

Assistance for isolated children: if your child cannot attend school locally
because you live in a remote area or your child has special needs.

Pension Education Supplement: (age 16+) provides additional help for Disability
Support Pension recipients who undertake study.
For individuals:
-
Disability Support Pension: For people who are unable to work for 2 years due
to illness, injury or disability.

Sickness Allowance: For people temporarily unable to work due to illness,
injury or disability.

Mobility Allowance: For people with disabilities to help them travel to work.
Training or job search activities.

Pension Education Supplement: (age 16+) provides additional help for Disability
Support Pension recipients who undertake study.

WHAT IS IT?
The Service Access System aims to assist people with disabilities access
supports that will enable them to continue to live in and be part of the
community. SAS provides a clearly defined process for the DADHC to respond
promptly to requests for support and to prioritise the allocation of available
resources.
WHO CAN REQUEST SUPPORT?
Individuals with disabilities and/ or their families and carers who have been
unable to access adequate or suitable support from existing service providers
and/ or existing community resources, and where their current situation is
placing:
-
them at significant risk
-
their current community support arrangements at risk; or
-
their current level of independence at risk.
People with disabilities seeking support through the SAS will be required to
complete a Request for Support Form.

WHAT IS IT?
The Life Solutions Program can assist with:
-
Short term relief from care of the person with the disability for the family or
support worker.

Specific purchases that assist the person with the disability to cope with the
situation or disability.

Counselling services for grief and loss, behavioural problems and relationship
issues.
-
Teaching the person with the disability living skills such as cooking, catching
public transport and looking after their home- all making them more
independent.

Support is provided for a maximum of 6 months.
WHO CAN REQUEST SUPPORT?
-
Individuals with a disability, their families and carers, who are not living in
supported accommodation.
-
Those who do not qualify for assistance through the SAS.
-
People with a disability who are able to identify an achievable goal with a
purposeful and preventative outcome.
Each situation is looked upon on a case by case basis.
