LIFE ACTIVITIES PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES
A new and exciting concept in clinical service, professional development and training

Seven programmes are offered. These are:

Community Living, which helps people with a disability to live more independently within the general community.

Life Consultancy, which assists people with a disability to maximise their quality of life by providing solutions, education and support to family members, carers and staff associated with the client.

Gambling Support, which is a unique project that assists people with a disability, who also have a gambling problem. We offer counselling and education for clients and their support networks as well as staff within the gambling industry.

Life Solutions, which offers interventions to stop situations from deteriorating and allows clients and their families to get back on track. Staff work to achieve practical ways of making situations more manageable.

Education and Training programmes designed to assist people who work within the disability and health sectors, clients and their families and carers. Some courses are accredited and help towards tertiary qualifications.

The Personal Support Program is a new initiative that provides a comprehensive range of support services for people who have non-vocational barriers that prevent them from gaining employment. The PSP forms a key part of the Australians Working Together package and aims to assist people to overcome these barriers and participate more fully within their community.

Drop In is a social group program where people with a disability meet once a week with Life Activities consultants to take part in a number of activities and outings such as cooking, trips to the movies, tai chi or once a month trips to places such as The Australian Reptile Park. There is a minimal fee for each person to attend this group, however funding is also provided through the Clubs NSW Community Development and Support Expenditure program.

As well as these programmes, community education seminars offer the general public access to information on a wide range of disabilities, support options, current research, alternative management structures and government assistance and regulations.
